Winter Glamping Activities

As the seasons get colder, activities at the glamping dome shift. We go from time on the lake to time around the fire. The leaves crunch under our feet as we hike the property. The sun goes down earlier, and the magic of twinkling lights surrounds us. As the season shifts here are five glamping activities that are perfect for Winter.

Building a fire in the outside firepit is a daily ritual for our family at the glamping dome. We provide firewood behind the patio fence. Our boys enjoy showing off their muscles as they gather and bring wood to the firepit. Tender can be found under the outdoor grill to help get things going. All that's left is to light the fire and gather around to enjoy the warmth and glow. 

The best part about being outside on the property in the winter months is no bugs! It is so pleasant to hike down to the creek and walk along the water's edge. We also have found several spots to hang hammocks and swings that provide fun for the kids and tranquil spots for the adults. I love the sound of creek jumping over rocks and the crunch of the leaves underfoot.

One of our favorite activities in colder months is playing games together. We offer a Ms. Pacman arcade in the loft area that the kids love as well as several family-friendly board games. Some of our favorite games to play as a family are Wild, Wild, Taco and Uno. When we host adults for a game night we enjoy Code Names and Ticket to Ride. We also keep coloring books and novels that are just what you need by the cozy indoor fireplace on a chilly day.

Now that you've got a fire built grab the complimentary s'mores supplies and skewers for roasting from the beautiful kitchen area. These classic treats make the perfect after dinner dessert and help the family get back outside before bedtime. We have learned that the best roasting method for marshmallows is to utilize a fire that has been burning for an hour or so. The heat produced by a long burning fire allows you to roast the marshmallow near but not in the flames for the perfect golden brown. 

The hot tub is something that really gets its best use in the winter months. Yes, that walk in your swimsuit from the dome can be a little cold but slipping into those warm waters just feels that much better! We recommend bringing slip on shoes and bundling in a cozy towel to and from the hot tub. While in the hot tub you can enjoy our bright sign or on clear nights turn it off for some gorgeous stargazing.
